The Frankweiler Suite

The Frankweiler Room is just one of several luxury suites you can stay in at the Flying Fifty boutique hotel in Cullman, AL. While each room at the Flying Fifty has a unique theme and backstory, the Frankweiler’s story takes us across the ocean to Cullman’s origin- Frankweiler, Germany. Home of Colonel Cullmann, whom the town is named for, Frankweiler is a charming village of less than a thousand people along the German wine route in Germany’s wine producing region of Palatinate. This 85km (about 53 miles) long route is focused on nature preservation, and of course the many wineries across different towns it passes through. There are three wineries in Frankweiler alone! In 1987, the cities of Cullman and Frankweiler formed an official partnership as sister cities.

The room itself has nods to its German origins and the local Cullman Oktoberfest, with a traditional dirndl and lederhosen displayed on one of the walls. While the Frankweiler Room’s history is centered in Germany, the room features many pieces highlighting the Cullman area. Artwork and furniture featured in the room and around The Flying Fifty are made by local artisans and craftsmen. Beyond the cultural ties, the Frankweiler room includes amenities to make any stay a luxury experience. With 715 square feet to spread out including a private balcony, you’ll have room for fun and rest. Every suite including the Frankweiler comes with amenities such as locally made bedding, a Dyson supersonic hair dryer, luxury cotton towels made in Alabama, a 75-inch smart TV, a Zero-Entry shower, and more.

Every booking at The Flying Fifty boutique hotel also includes access to reserving the on-site conference room for gatherings, complimentary access to the gym at the Cullman Wellness and Aquatic Center, seasonal free access to the WildWater water park, and free golfing on a first-come first-serve basis. Of course, bookings also include easy access to the businesses downstairs in The Flying Fifty building including Jubilee Coffee and Wine Bar, Sipsey Winery, and Seven Daughters Scoops ice cream.
